Poem: Never Ending

celinajoan94

I know a place of stillness and calm

Where I am invincible against all odds.

My legs cannot get me there,

Nor can my words,

So I close my eyes,

And I observe

"Who are you?"

I ask myself in the light

"Well, surely I am everything,

Every day I fight.

I know right from wrong

and wrong from right.

I care for my body

and hold myself tight."

Just as I am sure of my words,

A wild wind sends shivers up my spine like a surge,

The cozy quiet of the northern woods slip away,

The open ocean I stand and face.

Her body so large, so vast, so strong,

No trees to protect me from what may go wrong.

But the wind never stops,

The waves never cease,

Instead of fear,

I let the beauty wash over me.

Born again from the womb of the salty water,

What I thought was the truth is set on fire.

With adventure in my eyes,

And restless, wanderlust minds,

I step into the day,

Unafraid and ready to fly,

Time retires as I dance in the new sun,

Proud of the woman I have become.

A gift in the form of an old friend,

Whos' stories I wish to never end,

Helps me replace the sun with the moon

And brings me closer to my inner tune.

In my new body, I lay under the night sky,

Kissed by a new star learning to be bright.

Dashing through the darkness,

I wish for this,

For what lay before me is truly bliss.

Thor rejoices as I challenge the ocean with my legs,

With little light to guide me,

Only my soul to be brave.

An unexpected experience,

Wrapped in a bow of perfect madness,

Knowing I must leave,

I wake in sadness,

Emotions swiftly replaced,

With a memory of a warm embrace,

A gentle smile steals my face,

As I watch the open ocean fade away,

The northern woods come to replace,

And return me to a familiar space.

A hawk calls and draws me in deeper,

In the thick of the forest,

I find the seer,

Waiting patiently for me,

Sitting on a tree stump,

I brace myself,

For the truth is blunt.

The seer reaches out,

and I lick its palm,

Longing for where I was,

But ready to go on.

"You were once so sure of who you were,

but with new experience,

comes new worlds."

"Who are you?"

Silently, I look up at a tree,

There through the leaves,

The sun is searching for me.

Knowing forward is the only way,

I let one tear fall before I say,

"I am undecided,

I know not right from wrong,

nor wrong from right,

I do not wish to fight,

I walk with the ever-changing winds of love,

I believe I am enough,

I know not golden treasures of the physical realm,

Nor do I wish to wonder who I am.

But I know of a place of stillness and calm

Where I am invincible against all odds.

My legs cannot get me there,

Nor can my words

But when it is time to learn,

I close my eyes,

And I observe."
